Fitness Gadgets: Compelling Motivation To Stay Fit

Fitness Gadgets

Nike + iPod Sport Kit

When you get the Nike + iPod, it’s almost akin to having an all in one fitness package. This comes with a sensor that measures how fast you run, how far you’ve gone, and even the calories you’ve burned. It allows you to input workout programs so you can choose tailored workouts. All of this information can be recorded into the iPod then saved onto your computer so you can keep track of your progress accordingly. You can even listen to your favorite tunes to make your workout more fun.

Satmap Active 10

Explore the outdoors with confidence with the Satmap Active 10. The Active 10 is a sports GPS that provides over a hundred maps and boasts of features such as direction indicator, route planning, compass and map orientation. The GPS is shock and water proof so you don’t have to worry about it being exposed to the outdoors.

Wii Fit
For people who are reluctant to get moving, the Nintendo Wii Fit just might be the answer to their needs. This is an exercise gadget that even the gaming population will approve of, as it provides both fun and fitness. You can choose from four workout modes and over 40 exercises.

MiLife

If you can’t afford a personal trainer, maybe you can give MiLife a try. MiLife is a coaching system available online. Users are provided with customized fitness schemes and recommendations on diet and exercise activities. At the end of each week, feedback is given regarding your progress.

Fitness Cube

The Fitness Cube is actually a weight bench that folds into a box. You get a home exercise equipment without worrying about space. Storage is no longer a hassle. It comes with a mat and accessories and provides up to 30 workout activities for your muscles.

Finis Lap Track

For people who love the water, here’s added motivation to keep swimming laps. The Finis Lap Track records the number of laps you do and the time within which you finish them. You stick it at the side of the pool and press it each time you pass.

Pedometer

This is probably the most useful fitness gadget you will ever purchase, as it will be brutally honest and tell you exactly how active - or inactive -you are on a daily basis. A pedometer is easy to set - even a rampant technophobe like me can manage it - and for a little gadget, it can provide lots of information. Some pedometers can tell you how many calories you're burning, as well as the number of steps you're taking. And it's a great incentive to exercise more to beat the previous day's step count.

Garmin Forerunner

This sports watch is not cheap, but if you're serious about getting fit, it's a great gadget. The Forerunner comes with its own software package and wireless communication, so if you train with a buddy, you can see how they're doing as well. See reports for running and cycling distances, climbs, heart rate and calorie expenditure. All that and GPS technology make this a great Boy's Toy - or Girl's Toy for that matter!

In this article, I've merely scratched the surface of the thousands of fitness gadgets out there. The main benefit of gizmos like this is that they encourage you to exercise more, if only to try out your new toy. Some of them can also provide you with lots of useful information to assist in your fitness campaign.

A word of warning, though - make sure you know how to get the best from your fitness gadgets, or you could make a very expensive mistake. The last thing you want is to have all the gear, but no idea!
