Healthy Lifestyle changes through proper diet and exercise will improve muscular and cardiovascular endurance and achieving optimal health Ladies, pick up those mugs! A new study by the Harvard School of Public Health shows evidence that drinking coffee can help reduce the chance of endometrial cancer. The study, headed by Dr. Edward Giovannucci, shows that women who drink coffee have a reduced risk of cancers related to obesity, insulin, and estrogen, including endometrial cancer.

The study examined over 67,000 women who were enrolled in the Nurses' Health Study. During the 26 year follow-up they found a link between coffee consumption and a lack of endometrial cancer.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), a cup or two a week won’t give results. The study shows that there is a link between women who drink four or more cups of caffeinated coffee a day with a 25% drop in endometrial cancer rates. Women who drink two or three cups a day show a 7% drop. Two cups of decaf a day produces a 22% drop.

Because of its association with smoking, coffee has never been viewed as a force of good in terms of health. Anything good that you’d get from the coffee would be canceled out by the cigarettes. Giovannucci hopes to challenge that opinion, explaining that “laboratory testing has found that coffee has much more antioxidants than most vegetables and fruits.”
