Benefits of Weight Loss Articles

Keys to Weight Loss

Are you a fan of, “The Biggest Loser” or other reality TV shows that help people transform their body in a matter of one television season or, in some cases, in one episode? I love seeing those amazing transformations and the excitement in the participant’s eyes as they achieve what they thought was impossible. Unfortunately, results like that in the time frame given are unrealistic. The average person cannot spend 6 to 7 hours a day in the gym and enjoy healthy meals prepared by a chef trained in cooking “clean”.

U.S. study links premature death to extra pounds

A recent study in the New England Journal of Medicine indicates that even a few extra pounds on your body increases the risk for premature death. We have known for a long time that obesity has been tied to premature death but these new findings speak to the notion that those falling within the overweight (25 -29.9) range on the Body Mass Index (BMI) scale increase their percent of death by 13% (BMI is only one measure of health. Visit with your physician about your healthy weight range). Those who are morbidly obese are 2.5 times more likely to die prematurely.

Why Getting to a Healthy Weight Matters

Our world (media, friends, family) has a definite opinion on what we should weigh. If a number isn’t put to the ideal, the world can definitely describe what that ideal should look like. All you have to do is look at magazine covers in the grocery store. If the ideal isn’t pictured, you will find photos of the opposite…super stars caught with their swimsuits on (unairbrushed) while on vacation or caught eating-heaven forbid- a piece of cake. So what is a healthy weight and why does it matter?

Yoga Defines Muscle

There are many common phrases uttered inside a fitness club at the first of the year. The “New Year’s Resolutioners”, as often referred to, are trying to hit their weight loss and fitness goals. One common phrase heard from women is “I want to sculpt my body, but am afraid lifting weights will make me bulky”. This is because the ideal body image for many women is slim, tall and defined. Yoga is a form of exercise that actually lengthens the muscle in order to strengthen and define versus breaking down the muscle to rebuild, as weight lifting does.

High Raw gives the most comprehensible outline for directing your own health that I've found yet. It is not a book that tells you to take this herb for that illness, but rather a book that directs you in setting your own goals for health, weight, energy, fitness and success, and then gives really insightful and helpful systems for achieving them. In my video I'll share some of my favorite parts.
