The Secrets to Weight Loss

Pay attention to WHAT you eat, HOW MUCH you eat, WHEN you eat and WHY. Honestly, losing weight is 75% on your eating. You must workout, but paying attention to your diet is crucial.
 
 
WHAT you put into your body is important. Stay away from foods that are high in fat, as well as high in carbohydrates. Choose proteins, healthy fats such as olive oil and avocados and multi-grains, veggies and fruits for carbohydrates. 
 
HOW MUCH you eat is crucial. Portion size does matter if you are trying to lose weight. Never eat until you are full. Eat until satisfied. You can always eat again in a few hours! Take your time and enjoy your meal. Try to eat slowly and savor every bite. Eat smaller meals - 4-6 meals per day.
 
WHEN you eat is important as well. You should eat every three to four hours. This will keep your metabolism high while burning calories and fat all day. A snack or meal should last you three to four hours. You should also eat more calories and carbohydrates earlier in the day and taper off throughout the day. Try not to have starchy carbs after 3 p.m. (bread, pasta, rice, cereal and potatoes.) 
 
WHY you eat can help you determine if you are truly hungry or if you are eating out of boredom, stress, for comfort, depression, etc. Eat when you are hungry.

BE CONSISTENT. You must become consistent with your eating in order to lose weight. Be consistent with your food choices, how much you eat and when you eat. You cannot change everything overnight. Make small changes every week to become consistent with your eating habits. If you mess up a meal, do not beat yourself up. Get right back on track at your next snack or meal. 
 
YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK. Positive thoughts and feeling good about yourself goes hand in hand with weight loss. You need to love and accept your body, which will allow you to ‘reconnect’ to your body. This will then lead you to weight loss and the ability to change your body. 
 
Let go of the things you do not like about your body. Accept those things, put it behind you and know you are moving forward and changing those things for the better. Learn to love yourself! Try not to be so hard on yourself all the time. 
 
Positive reinforcement will help you accomplish your goals! Think positive thoughts and affirmations: “I am getting leaner and leaner everyday”, “I am getting stronger, healthier and energetic”, “My waist is getting smaller and smaller”, “I have so much energy and I feel great!” Write down your specific goals/intentions on a note card and read them everyday. Read them every morning and every night before you fall asleep. BELIEVE and KNOW you can achieve your goals. You can do anything you put your mind to.
